Whether you’re learning about the true meaning of the holiday season or diving head-first into history and exploring the brave people who came before us, the power that books play in our lives is undeniable. But books about strong and powerful women, about adversity, about courage and faith, about overcoming hardships and intolerance? Those are the books that deserve to be placed front and center on the shelves of the children we read them to.
Once Halloween is over and the temperature has officially dropped, with no signs of rising again, it’s time to get your home ready for the most magical time of the year! I don’t know the exact number, but when red and green are suddenly my favourite colour combination again, I know Christmas isn’t far off. What better way to get into the holiday spirit (besides being a good person and doing good for others) than by turning your home into a festive and colourful wonderland. There are so many unique and creative products out there and while all might not be your taste, I can almost guarantee that there’s something for everybody.
Dessert is something I’m almost constantly craving. Coated in chocolate, line with chocolate, next to chocolate – as long as chocolate is involved in some form, I’m there for it. Whenever I bake anything, the first thing I ask myself is, “Can I get chocolate in this without ruining it?” Afterall, I’m a chocolate snob (in that I eat it and judge those who don’t), but I wouldn’t dare use it in a recipe that it absolutely wouldn’t suit.
I have never been a watch person. To be honest, the perception of their utility, rather than as a fashion accessory, has always been my main focus. Why do I need to tell the time if I have an iPhone almost literally glued to my hand? As I began to embrace their uniqueness, however, I was reminded that there will never be such a simple addition to my outfit. I could wear a necklace or a ring, but nothing will ever be quite as timeless (pun intended?).
