On weekends (and some evenings), you can usually find me sitting in front of the computer indulging in a good ol’ Netflix binge or curled on the couch with a book or my iPhone, scrolling through Instagram. Almost always, in all those instances, I have a hot cup of coffee with me. Why? There’s something about a warm beverage nestled between my hands. It’s cozy and comforting.
If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know, and likely understand, how madly in love I am with coffee. It’s a Shakespearean kind of love – that is to say, it’s romantic and complicated and beautiful. Therefore, #NationalCoffeeDay is sort of a religious experience for me.
For those unaware, September 29th is National Coffee Day (I’m checking to see if it’s recognized as a statutory holiday because there is no day of greater importance to us as a society). When my friends at Keurig reached out to me, they told me that they’ve decided (and I’m completely on board with this) to extend the celebration by dedicating an entire month to the thing that keeps us all from falling apart. I mean, hello? My body is 40% water, 10% sarcasm, and a good 50% caffeine. This celebration was made for me.
Don’t you ever keep me apart from coffee, especially if we’re interacting before 10am on any given day. I used to be the person who relied entirely on Starbucks and other coffee shops to get my morning fix. Then, when I moved to Toronto, the one thing I wanted for a housewarming gift was a Keurig Single Serve Coffee Maker. Not only did I fantasize about all the times I’d probably be curled up with a massive blanket sipping my “cup of joe,” but the convenience of a single serving at a time was too perfect to pass up.
